Enhancing Modern Design With Mid-Century Touches and Low-Maintenance Fixtures
This project was part of a kitchen and bathroom design for a new build home in the Leith area.
For their bathroom, the homeowners were looking for a mix of modern design and mid-century touches with a warm-toned colour scheme. They also wanted groutless, low-maintenance showers, tile floors with natural stone appearance, and a free-standing tub.
To meet these goals, we installed custom one-piece shower bases with large-format shower wall panels and a custom built-in shower ledge. The wall-hung vanity with backsplash is built into a stepped ledge detail. Brushed gold fixtures and custom mirrors with radius corners complete the look.

Unique Elements Complete the Look
For this project, we were able to incorporate a couple of unique elements to create a truly one-of-a-kind bathroom.
First, at the homeowner’s request, we installed “His-and-Hers” shower heads, with a fixture on each end of the shower. This uncommon—but brilliant—touch has transformed the space into a design that’s truly their own.
In addition, the shower has a ledge that serves both form and function. Because all our showers are large-format panels, rather than small tile pieces, creating a ledge between the pieces helps us incorporate the big sheets without leaving a visible seam. There’s one piece on the lower section and another on the top, with the ledge connecting them. This way, we’re able to downsize the sheets so they are easier to work with, while also providing a functional result.
In the end, the client loves their new bath. For us, that’s the best result of all!
